Themba Nthite

In 2013 after collaborating with 5 of my colleagues from Soshanguve, we decided to establish Total Change Cooperative and take advantage of the training opportunities offered by the Tshepo Ten Thousand Programme that had just been launched in the City of Tshwane.

The road skills training that followed which we received in 2015 provided us with a solid platform and has allowed us to play an important role in assisting with pothole repairs on the internal streets in Soshanguve.

Thanks to the ongoing support and mentorship we have received from SAFETI we have been able to delivery a number of projects and we are still going strong after 10 years – winning the Gauteng Enterprise Propeller Construction award. A case study on our cooperative business model has also been published by the City of Tshwane.

On a personal level I was contracted by SAFETI in 2024 to join the team as a training instructor on the Free State Pothole Eradication Programme where we have been responsible for training 650 students across the province.
